About Crate

Warehouse management, rethought

Crate exists because warehouse operations deserve better tooling. Most WMS products are either oversized ERP modules that take months to implement, or simple inventory trackers that break the moment operations get complex. We're building the system we wished existed — powerful enough for enterprise warehouse operations, clean enough to deploy and operate without a consulting engagement.

Design Principles

The decisions behind the product

Independent by design

Crate is a standalone product. It doesn't depend on a specific commerce platform, ERP, or middleware to function. You can run it on its own or integrate it with your existing stack through documented REST APIs.

Resilient and scalable

Crate is designed so that a problem in one area — say, reporting — doesn't affect core operations like receiving or inventory tracking. Each functional domain scales independently based on load, so your busiest workflows always have headroom.

Multi-tenant from day one

Multi-tenancy isn't a feature that was added later — it's a foundational constraint. Every operation is scoped by organization. There is no code path that can access another tenant's data.

API-first, UI-second

Every capability is built as an API endpoint first. The web interface is a consumer of the same APIs available to external integrations. This means anything you can do in the UI, you can automate through the API — and vice versa.

The Team

Built by warehouse technology practitioners

Crate is built by a team with deep experience in warehouse operations technology and e-commerce infrastructure. We've spent years building and operating logistics and fulfillment systems serving businesses across retail, e-commerce, and distribution.

The problems Crate solves aren't ones we read about in a market report. They come from first-hand experience — watching warehouse teams work around broken software, lose hours to manual stock reconciliation, and struggle with systems that were designed for a different era of operations. Crate is the system we wished we had.

That operational background shapes every product decision. We know which workflows need to be fast because someone is standing at a receiving dock. We know which reports matter at month-end because we've been the ones pulling the data. And we know that a WMS that takes six months to deploy isn't solving the problem — it's adding to it.
